I have been seeing Amorah Kelly L.Ac, M.S. O.M. for Acupuncture for over two years, and I treasure my sessions with her. From back pain to digestive issues, all throughout my pregnancy, and sometimes just to chill out, I always have a good reason to go and see Amorah. Her presence is immediately calming and I love her charming and peaceful office space at 7734 Herschel in Suite Q of the Crosby Center.
After filling out your paperwork, pick the room that calls to you – there are three to choose from. They all have a slightly different feel and are vibrating with feeling of healing…
I sat down with Amorah to ask her a few questions in an effort to clear up any confusion that people might have regarding this ancient an effective method of healing:
Does Acupuncture hurt? On occasion you may feel a little tiny, momentary pinch, but it’s very gentle. I’m an energy healer and I believe that a very light touch is best.
One service you provide is Facial Acupuncture. Tell me a little bit about that. As we age, the elastin in our skin breaks down and the skin starts to sag and thin, losing its youthful appearance. Another cause of wrinkles and fine lines, especially in the forehead, is tension in the facial muscles. Facial acupuncture relaxes these muscles and promotes the production of elastin, reducing the appearance of sagging, wrinkles and fine lines. More good news about facial acupuncture is that it treats the whole body so you can address other health issues that you may be dealing with while rejuvenating your appearance.
What are some common ailments that acupuncture addresses? Acupuncture treats a variety of issues including joint pain, muscle pain, insomnia, and headaches. If you are receiving cancer treatment, acupuncture helps to counter the symptoms of chemotherapy and radiation. For women going through menopause or are pregnant, acupuncture balances hormones and restores harmony in the body. It also reduces inflammation which can be the cause of many diseases. Treatments are very calming and greatly reduce stress which is perhaps the best reason to come in for a session.
How does it work? Acupuncture is an ancient and complex system of healing. A simple explanation is that when the needles enter the body it triggers the release of endorphins. These are the “feel good” chemicals of the brain that put us into a very calm and euphoric state where healing can occur. Endorphin release is also one of the reasons why we feel so at peace during and after treatment.
Amorah has been practicing for the last decade and has been a healer her whole life, practicing energy healing and massage for many years. As I was leaving her office the other day, I overheard her words of wisdom to a client:
Come in for wellness before you have to come in for sickness!
